One night in Stockholm

Friday was a wasted day. I felt sick and was not able to follow my article. Not a good sign for the weekend I was waiting for since more than 2 month.
Saturday we started to Stockholm. Because our train would be back just at midnight of Sunday, we went to the train station by bicycle at half past 7 in the morning and chained them on a fence. Arrived at Stockholm we brought our luggage to the ship we were going to sleep at night and went back to town to the Aquamarine-museum. It consists of several aquariums and was quite nice to explore. Afterwards we went back to town, because I needed some rest. Philipp took the opportunity to make in these two hours amazing pictures from above the town. Check his gallery later! In the early evening we went to Gamla Stan drinking a tea/coffee and eating a pizza. The pizzeria at the Nobel Museum is recommendable! The pizza is twice expensive as at the pizzeria in Sundsvall, but it tastes much better having the same (huge) size and you receive free bread with self made olive-pesto and cold water. We finished the evening with a walk through the town before I went to bed and Philipp made more night pictures of Stockholm. Because of my terrible headache I did not join him.
For the same reason I slept bad during the night and I regret I did not take the offered headache pill from Jana, a girl from Germany who came with her classmates to Stockholm to celebrate their degree. In the morning I begged for a pill and I received a whole package. Just in case, if they would return for a few days. Thanks girls! With the help of the pill the headache was gone, but my coordination felt like being drunk. Always a little bit two slow in reaction as usual (yes, slower is possible...) and not being really aware of my environment. We bought Kanelbullar at Hemköp (almost as good as Anna's) and went to the biological museum we had missed the day before. It is a collection of stuffed animals of Scandinavia and Greenland and its muck oxes and the walrus were very impressive. We visited the Technical Museum, too. Sad for this day, that I was not in the mood to read a lot. But in general it is a very good collection of all kind of machines and the build-in mine in the basement of the museum is very well implemented. In the end, after a very long time, we found the children section. And we had lot of fun with it. There we found out, that Philipp is one of a kind and I am at least one of five of a kind. And we played a lot with the mirrors. Funny stuff.
All in all, Stockholm was a nice trip. I am sorry for Philipp that I delayed us so much. All the time I begged for a place to rest. And I did not talk very much, always concentrated on myself. And if I talked, I felt like only complaining about headache, backache or whatever. In the end we just sit on the train station and waited. I felt so cold. At the train I slept two hours and felt better when we arrived. And I was able to cycle back to Nacksta. I love my bike with gear change.
Now, what to say about Stockholm. It is huge, crowded and attracts in its way. But being in Stockholm I found out what I like at Sundsvall.
In Sundsvall everything is more personal. If you walk to town, you can be certain to meet at least one you know. I am so trained in this accident that I was all the time looking for exchange students in Stockholm. In Sundsvall, people are often interested were you come from and talk to you. Of course, that's impossible in Stockholm. There are Germans everywhere. You can recognize them almost at their clothes. Always... practical. A rain-coat, even in sunshine. And observing the environment with a specific kind of look. I guess, it is this critical look coming from the necessitation to optimize everything. They are not even about complaining about 200g instead of 100g ketchup on their sandwich. When Philipp and I met some Germans from this kind we tried not to to be recognized as German. And with so many Germans why should somebody be interested in where from Germany you come from or why you are in Sweden.
Cars do not care for anybody. In Sundsvall they brake even if they are the only car in sight and if they are hundred meters away. In Stockholm, you have to be more careful. People are less relaxed at all. We heard in two days Stockholm more horns than in 9 month Sundsvall. But of course, Stockholm is not only that way. Sitting in front of the cafe in the evening reminded me on cosy evenings in Aachen, when we sat in one of the tiny ginnels next to the ancient townhall. In Stockholm you can find those corners where you can relax, drink a coffee, take a breath, slow down and watching the few people who pass knowing that just 50 meters away from you a lively city waits to be explored.

För den jag är

Unbelievable. Anna is already since 10 days gone. Or is it only 10 days? I lost my feeling for time. Everyday is full of experiences and activities. I cannot recall everything what I have done in the past two weeks. Many things are just small things which I appreciate a lot. But the last weekend was a highlight. We went with 12 people in three cars to a place called Vallbo near Åre. We started at half past 6 in the morning on Saturday. Although some of us did not sleep at all during the fromer night we walked almost 8 hours. And it was awesome. We walked through so many different landscapes. Wood, swamp, high gras, Tundra, stone desert, climbed up a mountain, walked crosswards through the wood, on a dead river... Overwhelming. I remembered pictures of New Zealand while we wandered through that panorama. The view was breathtaking. The weather changed quickly a few times. One we had even an ice shower. In the end of the day we stayed for dinner at a pension where we got selfmade soup, b...

Ankle parade

What a weekend. Friday I watched "The Ring" with Christian and Maritha. And for getting down after the movie we watched Scream3. Saturday was a soccer-tournament in the Nacksta sportshall. When we entered the hall and watched the other teams we realzied immediately "Damn, they know how to play". So we started straight away we tactical plans. "Ok, first, with which foot do you shoot" - "Right" - "I as well right" - "Right, too" - "Don't know, I never kicked a ball before"... We were definitely the team with the most fun. We laughed so much. More and more werid tactics arised. From playing in a circle, so everybody can shot with the right foot, to Eileen's scare-tactic which should not explained in detail here. After three matches we were out, but we won at least the second. During the second game in injured somehow my ankle. I have no idea when and how, but I skipped for that reason the last match. The girls h...

Like I Do

The weekend was to short. During the first days I always have to remember Östersund. On monday I had a predicate logic lesson. Until now I can follow the lesson. The lecturer started to express everything in mathematical formulas, so can finally learn that, too. Yesterday we had swedish lesson. I like these lessons. Ella has prepared something, but we have everytime something else to question. Yesterday we brought a article about Anna from a magazine. During the lesson we read the article and discussed it. And because it was full of partizipels Ella taught us partizipels. Today Basti and I had our first Decision Analysis lesson. Because Jim became father another lecturer taughts the lessons. Aron makes his job fine, I think. He tries to involve the audience and explains everything in details and with funny examples. But one thing I don't like: as always at this university you need a course book. And as always there are just two copies at the library. And the bookstores have to orde...
